Slower-than-expected volume off-take combined with bearish feedstock developments continued to put a drag on the European monoethylene glycol market. Feedstock ethylene’s April contract price was settled on Wednesday, at Eur1,265/mt ($1,620/mt) FD NWE, tumbling by Eur60/ mt on the month. Weak fundamentals were exacerbated by a fall in Asian prices. Prices slid $30/mt from last Friday to $985/mt CFR China/Southeast Asia Thursday amid weak polyester demand. Spot offers for April in the MEG market declined to Eur850-880/mt FCA NWE.
