The October US terephthalic acid price had not been set as the market was awaiting settlement of the feedstock paraxylene contract, the key variable used to set the monthly value. The September PTA prices were set at 63.56 cents/lb ($1,401/mt), up a 1.34 cents/lb from August. There were expectations for a lower October PTA price, with spot PX moving lower, following the trend in Asia. Spot PX was was assessed Friday at $1,410/mt FOB USG, down $10/ mt week on week.
