Singapore — South Korea's Kumho Petrochemical plans to restart its synthetic rubber units at Yeosu by October 25 once a scheduled maintenance program is completed, a source close to the company said Wednesday. On Monday, the company shut its 550,000 mt/year butadiene rubber and 70,000 mt/year styrene-butadiene-styrene units at Yeosu, about 455 km south of Seoul. A 120,000 mt/year unit at the site, which makes high cis polybutadiene rubber, will be shut on Monday. Kumho also operates a two-line 150,000 mt/year butadiene extraction unit at Yeosu, which is expected to be shut in the second week of October.
