US polyethylene terephthalate prices were stable week on week, assessed Wednesday at $1,664/mt (75.5 cents/ lb) DDP US West Coast. US prices have been talked in the 74.5-76.5 cents range. Prices for Asian-origin material were unchanged, with limited activity heard due to holidays in the Chinese and Korean markets. Import cargoes heading to the US were heard originating at the $1,370-$1,380/mt FOB China range earlier this month. Domestic demand has been heard steady, but below the peak-summer season levels. US PET contracts were assessed at 86.50-87.50 cents/lb US railcar ($1,907-1,929/ mt). Market sources said higher inventories and stableto- lower feedstock costs were factors that would likely keep contracts from climbing in October.
