Recent arbitrage opportunities for exporting material from Europe were seen to have dried up, as Asian prices tumbled further and European prices remained at a level that was too high for viable exports to the US, particularly following higher contract settlements in the region, sources said. There were no fresh fixtures reported this week as sellers were likely to find higher prices domestically, while volumes offered were too small to put together a suitably sized parcel, according to traders. The most recent deal reported was the Trans Catalonia, fixed for a trip departing Brindisi, Italy, on February 28 and calling at ARA for a total cargo of 6,000 mt destined for US export.
