US spot styrene tumbled 2.30 cents on the week for an assessment at 73.85 cents/lb FOB USG Friday as export demand was quiet due to arbitrage windows to Europe and Asia being closed. Sources said supply in the market was quickly becoming long due to the lack of export demand. Domestic demand remained stable, sources said, with downstream polystyrene demand characterized as steady, while downstream acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene demand was heard steady-to-strong.
