The spot price for paraxylene in Europe inched up by $5/mt from Thursday to $1,425/mt FOB ARA Friday, following an increase in Asian prices. The price was flat against the prior week and market participants were not optimistic about the possibility of any uptick. “I haven’t heard much in the spot market, but there’s no demand from PTA producers. It still seems bearish,” said a producer. Sources reported a range extending from below $1,400/mt to $1,450/mt, though most were between $1,420-1,430/mt FOB ARA.
