Asian propylene prices fell this week on weak demand for October cargoes, shrugging off gains in crude. The FOB Korea/Japan marker was assessed Friday at $1,319/mt, down $12/mt week on week. The CFR China marker was assessed at $1,389/mt, down $2/mt from a week earlier, while the CFR Taiwan marker remained unchanged over the same period at $1,371/mt. Market discussion was thin this week, with little buying interest for October cargoes seen as downstream end-users prepared for turnarounds in the month, while producers were reluctant to sell cargoes at lower prices as upstream crude and naphtha continued to gain strength.
