GPPS: Asian general purpose polystyrene was assessed down $5/mt week on week to $1,580/mt CFR China, while the CFR Southeast Asia marker was flat over the same period at $1,600/mt amid market weakness in China as a result of sluggish economic conditions in both domestic markets and export destinations in Europe. China will mark Ching Ming or the tomb sweeping festival next week, and the looming holiday is also dampening demand, sources said. In Southeast Asia, producers were heard offering at $1,650-1,670/mt for smaller sized cargoes, typically 50-100 mt, as opposed to 100-500 mt, which is the size assessed by Platts.
