In Mexico, ethylene August contract prices were settled at $1,030/mt ex-works basis, an increase of $88/mt compared to July, company sources said this week. The rise mirrored the price increase in the US Gulf contract price (CP) for August, which was settled up 4 cents/lb, leaving the net transaction price at 46 cents/lb, sources said. In production, Pemex Petroquimica was expected to have a surplus of 500 tons of ethylene during September on the back of some planned turnaround scheduled in downstream markets during this month, sources said.
