The spot propylene market was dormant this week as downward pressure persisted due to uncertainty in the downstream demand. Most buyers were largely covered for April and absent from the market. Meanwhile, most sellers continued to talk spot levels at around Eur1,200/mt, but there were no takers. "It's very dull and quiet," a trader said, adding "there were hiccups here and there" in the downstream chain that were curbing demand. Most producers said spot business had been slow, and lack of clarity in the market, especially on the back of easing feedstock naphtha cost, had kept most industry participants sidelined. A trader said he was unable to get firm bids for his polymer grade offer of Eur1,180-1,200/mt FD NWE, and said: "Everybody's careful. No one wants to commit."
