Asian styrene monomer prices continued to rise this week on tight prompt supply in Northeast Asia and China. The FOB Korea marker surged $57.50/mt week on week to $1,521.50/mt, and CFR China by the same amount to $1,545.50/mt Friday. The day-on-day increase was $12/mt for both benchmarks. The US Federal Reserve announced Thursday during its Open Market Committee meeting that it would keep interest rates low through to mid-2015 and purchase additional agency mortgage-backed securities at a pace of $40 billion/month.
