EDC: Asian ethylene dichloride prices were flat Thursday from a week earlier at $268/mt CFR Far East Asia and down $3/mt over the same period at $262/mt CFR Southeast Asia on the back of weak demand. EDC bids were heard at $250-260/mt CFR Far East Asia this week, with offers at $300/mt FOB Northeast Asia. Buyers were heard to be more cautious this week after witnessing the fall in ethylene prices. "Buyers were more cautious after ethylene prices started falling after two months of gains," a Japanese trader said. Feedstock ethylene fell $45/mt week on week to $1,330/mt CFR Far East Asia Thursday. However, EDC makers said they were still make huge losses despite this.
