US spot butadiene slipped 1 cent on the week to an assessment Friday at 78 cents/lb CIF USG on continued weak demand. Supply was characterized as available in the market, sources said. "I don't see demand getting any better," one trader said. There was talk of possible optimism for greater demand in October, but some sources downplayed it. "When it's this bad, anything seems like optimism. I think it is more wishful thinking," one source said. No bids, offers or deals were heard during the week. Sources notionally pegged the market from the high-70's cents/lb to the low 80's cents/lb.
