US spot polypropylene remained at a steep discount to March contract prices for at least the second consecutive week, and some in the market were anticipating a drop in April contracts because of downward movements on the monomer side, sources said this week. While March contracts for homo polymer injection were at 86-87 cents/lb delivered, according to Platts data, generic prime spot material was recently heard trading in the mid-70s cents/lb and lower, with offers heard at 75 cents/lb and lower from some producers and traders, sources said. Other producers, however, were heard offering at contract levels, around 87 cents/lb.
