The Northwest European styrene monomer FOB Antwerp- Rotterdam-Amsterdam benchmark breached the $1,500/mt mark in the second week of August, hitting the secondhighest price level in 2012 Thursday at $1,554/mt. The bull run eased a notch toward the end of the week, shedding $29/mt on profit-taking pressures, to close at $1,525/mt FOB ARA Friday. Day-on-day losses also tracked a $27/mt decline in upstream benzene values to $1,266/mt CIF ARA.
