Northwest European polystyrene contract prices were assessed Eur10/mt higher at Eur1,515/mt FD NWE for general purpose grade and Eur1,645/mt FD NWE for high impact product. Gains were founded upon firm demand, but in some sectors, such as XPS insulation, they remained 2% lower in comparison to September 2011 volumes. According to industry sources, while bigger convertors easily coped with increases of Eur80-90/mt, to Eur1,500- 1,530/mt FD NWE for GPPS and Eur1,630-1,650/mt for HIPS, small-to-medium sized convertors struggled with the high fixed prices.
