Jakarta-Indonesia is opening up the refining sector to private companies as the region’s largest gasoil and gasoline importer further steps up efforts to cut its dependency on imports. Under a decree issued earlier this month, private companies are now allowed to build refineries, import crude and/or condensate to meet their refining needs, and export refined products if domestic needs have been met, energy and mines ministry spokesman Sujatmiko said.
