New York-US shale plays continued to drop rigs this week and the significant decreases in rig count over the last year have finally started to take its toll in reduced production, and production forecasts. Horizontal rigs, the primary rigs used to drill in shale, fell by six this week to 355, more than half the 741 horizontal rigs employed a year ago, according to Baker Hughes weekly rig report Friday.
