Total starts up delayed Laggan-Tormore

France's Total has started production from the Laggan and Tormore gas and condensate fields in the UK's West of Shetland area after nearly two years of delay and major cost over-runs. The project is the first in a succession of new projects due on stream in the coming months that are expected to help keep UK output relatively robust despite the current price crunch, at least for a few years. Others include Premier Oil's Solan field, also west of the Shetland Islands.
