Nigerian state seizes 200,000 b/d Shell oil facility

Nigeria’s Bayelsa state government in the Niger Delta has said it has sealed off a key Shellowned oil and gas facility, the Gbaran/Ubie, on court orders that could potentially threaten production of 200,000 b/d. The $1.5 billion Gbaran/Ubie facility was shut and oil workers removed from the premises after a court in Bayelsa state ruled that the facility was built without the legally required permit, the state executive secretary in charge of Physical Planning and Development Board, Boro Ige-Edaba said in a statement Monday.
