NYMEX crude settles below $45/b as weakness persists

New York—The oil complex declined further Thursday amid skepticism surrounding OPEC’s ability to limit production and the lingering effects of the largest weekly US crude build on record. Oil futures were stable early, but came under pressure by the afternoon. ICE January Brent settled down 51 cents at $46.35/b. One day after flirting with $45/b, frontmonth NYMEX crude ended the session below that level for the first time since September 27. The December contract settled 68 cents lower at $44.06/b.
