Juba-China is ready to boost production from its operated oil fields in South Sudan but warned any ramp up is dependent on greater efforts to protect foreign workers at its fields, China’s ambassador to South Sudan, Ma Qiang, has said. “We are ready to increase oil production. But, first, we need good security environment. And, secondly, we need security protection for Chinese engineers and staff including our foreign partners,” Qiang told the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation last week.
