Brazil’s Petrobras pumps first oil from offshore Lapa Field

Rio de Janeiro-Brazilian state-led oil producer and refinery Petrobras started output from the offshore Lapa Field in the prolific subsalt frontier, the company said. A four-month delay to first oil from the field likely means the company will be unable to meet its production target for 2016-the field had initially been expected to start production in August. First oil from the Lapa Field, in the Santos Basin’s BM-S-9 block, was pumped using the Cidade de Caraguatatuba floating production, storage and offloading vessel Monday, Petrobras said.
