Japanese utility Tokyo Electric Power Company’s crude and fuel oil use for thermal power generation in fiscal 2015-16 dropped 29% year on year to around 2.20 million kl, or 38,000 b/d, amid bearish overall power demand, while its LPG consumption halved to 150,000 mt, a source close to the matter said Wednesday. Tepco’s oil consumption for the fiscal year ended March 31 was the lowest in more than a decade, according to available company data tracked by Platts since fiscal 2003-04.
