The EU Parliament on Tuesday approved the ratification of the Paris Agreement on climate change, clearing the way for the EU to formally ratify the deal as soon as this Friday and crossing the threshold for its entry into force as soon as next month. The timing of the EU's approval is significant. Crucially, the global agreement may now enter into force by November 7, a day ahead of US elections, with Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump having previously pledged to renegotiate America's participation in the agreement if he became president.
