IEA to run first natural gas emergency exercise with Japan

Tokyo-The International Energy Agency plans to run emergency exercises next month for natural gas disruptions in Japan, the world’s largest importer of LNG, the IEA’s director of energy markets and security, Keisuke Sadamori, said Tuesday. The exercise-which the IEA calls a “resiliency assessment”-is part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to enhance natural gas security among its members, as well as non-members, following the outbreak of the crisis between Russia and Ukraine a little more than two years ago, Sadamori told an industry seminar in Tokyo.
