Moscow-North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC), operator of the massive Kashagan oil and gas project offshore Kazakhstan, said Friday it still plans to relaunch production at the project by the end of 2016, a day after consortium partner China’s CNPC indicated that the restart of the field could be delayed by a further six months. In a statement released following Kazakh energy minister Kanat Bozumbayev’s visit to Kashagan Thursday, NCOC said that it is still aiming to start production by the end of 2016. “We are looking for all opportunities to advance the schedule even further,” NCOC managing director Bruno Jardin said in the statement.
