Jerusalem-The fate of gas exports from Israel’s giant offshore Leviathan field remains far from clear but recent government backing has removed at least one hurdle for the $6 billion Mediterranean project. Discovered in 2010, Leviathan was one of the world’s biggest offshore discoveries of the decade but its development has been mired in regional politics over future exports, fiscal uncertainty, competition concerns and, more recently, major rival gas finds offshore Egypt.
