Oil complex recovers ground after four-day slide

Crude oil futures pared four consecutive days of losses to settle higher Friday, buoyed by comments made by Russian President Vladimir Putin that were supportive of an agreement to freeze supply with OPEC producers. NYMEX October light sweet crude settled $1.28 higher at $44.44/b, still $3.20 lower than last Friday's settle. ICE November Brent rose $1.38 to settle at $46.83/b.
