Ecuador and China signed a loan agreement Monday for up to $2 billion, backed in oil deliveries at market prices, the South American country’s finance ministry said in a statement. “Access to this loan falls within the framework of the strategic relationship maintained with China, which has permitted Ecuador to accede to sources of financing and [allowed China] to buy national oil,” the ministry said.
