Moscow-Russian and Japanese companies signed a raft of memoranda and agreements on cooperation in the oil and gas sector Friday, further cementing Moscow’s pivot to Asia as a key trade and financing partner amid its strained relations with the West. The agreements, signed during the first visit to Japan in 11 years by a Russian president, included joint exploration offshore Sakhalin, technological and financial collaboration in oil, gas and LNG, and established a mutual fund for such projects.
