Run rate at Chinese independent refiners fall

Singapore-The average run rate of China’s independent refiners in eastern Shandong province fell in May on plants shut for maintenance and narrowing refinery margins. The average run rate of 36 refineries surveyed was 54.2% in May, according to Beijing-based energy information provider JYD Commodities Hub. That’s down from the record high 58.3% in April, according to S&P Global Platts calculations. JYD’s survey covered 42 refineries in April, but Platts’ calculations took into account only the refineries that have a primary processing capacity of above 1 million mt/year.
