Brazil’s OGPar to take over FPSO operations

Rio de Janeiro-Brazilian independent oil company Oleo e Gas Participacoes will take control of the FPSO producing oil from the Tubarao Martelo Field from sister firm OSX Brasil, slashing costs for both firms amid flagging oil prices, the two companies said Monday. OGPar and OSX reached a deal Friday to suspend lease payments for six months on the FPSO OSX-3, the floating production, storage and offloading vessel handling output from OGPar’s flagship oil field, both companies said in separate filings with stock regulators. During the suspension, the companies will attempt to negotiate “new lease terms that will maintain oil production at Tubarao Martelo in an economically viable way,” OSX said.
