London—The number of VLCCs observed in the Middle East rose as of Wednesday compared with last week amid a fall in vessels in West Africa, data from Platts ship-tracking software cFlow showed. In the two main landing regions, the number of VLCCs in Southeast Asia slid while North Asia saw a small rise, the data showed. VLCCs—which carry up to 2 million barrels of crude and typically range in size from 240,000 to around 320,000 dwt—are responsible for shipping most of the world’s crude oil and are mainly used on longhaul voyages.
