Vietnam refiner can’t fend off spot imports

Hanoi—Vietnam’s sole refiner Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Co. is facing swelling oil product stocks, particularly of diesel, as a wide disparity in import taxes has led oil companies to cover most of their spot demand through imports, rather than from the domestic refinery, industry sources said this week. BSR has urged oil importers in Vietnam to consider buying oil products, especially diesel, from the refinery, the sources said.
