Union Pacific Q1 crude volume plummets

Houston—Union Pacific’s crude oil volumes by rail slid dramatically during the first-quarter of 2015, the rail company’s executives said Thursday, and they were not sure when traffic would rebound. The low-price environment in the oil market drove crude volumes down 38%, to 23,400 carloads from 37,600, Executive Vice President of Sales Erik Butler said in Union Pacific’s Q1 earnings call.
