Calgary-A forest fire that started over the weekend in Alberta’s oil-producing Cold Lake area is growing, with 17,483 hectares now impacted, compared with about 8,000 hect- ares 24 hours ago, Janelle Lane, the prov- ince’s wildfire information officer, said Tuesday. “Our latest assessment indicates winds are blowing from the north and northeast and that could potentially challenge the west- ern perimeters of the Cold Lake region and spread into other oil-producing areas of Lac La Biche and Peace River,” she said.
