Norway touts bids for Arctic block round

Copnehagen—The Norwegian authorities on Friday announced strong interest in new exploration areas, with energy companies focusing their attention mainly on the almost virgin Barents Sea in the latest licensing round. Companies included the usual heavyweights such as Shell, BP and Statoil and US groups Chevron and ConocoPhillips, as well as mediumsized European companies. But applications also comprised a swathe of smaller Nordic groups such as RN Nordic Oil AS and Spoke Exploration AS, to broaden out the range.
