US rig count falls by 8

Houston—The US rig count was 877 for the week ended August 28, down by 8 from the prior week, according to Baker Hughes. The latest count includes 847 land and 30 offshore, with 202 assigned to gas, 675 to oil and 0 to miscellaneous drilling. The rigs were drilling 125 vertical, 80 directional and 672 horizontal wells.
