US has denied several crude swap requests

Houston—Several US companies have sought permission from the government to export crude to Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America, but were rejected because they failed to qualify for strict exemptions to export restrictions, an administration official said Thursday. The companies were not allowed to export US crude because they could not first prove that the oil could not be marketed in the US, the US Commerce Department’s Matthew Borman said during an Argus conference in Houston.
