US independents see better wells in Q2

Houston-Three of the US’ biggest indepen- dents on Thursday outlined strides made at slashing well costs and streamlining opera- tions in recent months, despite oil prices that have plunged near the lowest levels seen this year. Marathon Oil, Continental Resources and Apache Corp, in second-quarter calls, said they are seeing higher-than-expected well production rates, and in some cases lower capital spending than budgeted amid raised expectations for 2015 production.
