New York-The US crude surplus tightened last week as US refiners kept crude runs high, although inventories remain high heading into the fall refinery maintenance season, US Energy Information Administration data showed Wednesday. US crude stocks fell 4.2 million barrels to 459.68 million barrels, leaving inventories at 70% of adjusted working capacity. On a four-week moving average, US crude inputs were at 16.76 million b/d for the week ending July 24, but crude market is well-supplied. Combined US crude production and imports on a four-week moving average were 17.07 million b/d last week. US crude stocks have fallen 31.23 million barrels since late April, but that was after climbing roughly 132 million barrels from the end of last August.
