Suncor starts Line 9 filling for Montreal refinery

Calgary—Suncor Energy has started filling crude on Line 9 in Eastern Canada for its Montreal refinery, but will not rush plans to install a much-expected coker in that facility to process various grades of heavy crude, CEO Steve Williams said Thursday. Enbridge-operated Line 9 entails the reversal of a 397-mile pipeline between North Westover, Ontario, and Montreal, Quebec, and a capacity expansion to 300,000 b/d from 240,000 b/d for the entire Line 9 from Sarnia, Ontario, to Montreal.
