Korea Gas’ Q1 LNG imports slump 22.5% on year

South Korea’s state-owned Korea Gas Corp. on Monday said its LNG imports fell 22.5% year on year in the first quarter of 2015 as domestic sales fell 7.7% due to an economic slump and mild temperatures. The world’s biggest LNG buyer imported 9.77 million mt of LNG in Q1, compared with 12.61 million mt in the same period of 2014, the company said in a statement. This was the fourth consecutive quarter of year-on-year decline following 0.5% growth in Q1 2014. Kogas’ LNG imports contracted 1.5% year on year in Q4 2014, 16.1% in Q3 and 18.2% in Q2.
