London—The Caspian Pipeline Consortium has announced completion of the first phase of expansion of the pipeline, which runs from Kazakhstan to the Black Sea coast, following upgrades to pumping stations in Kazakhstan and the connection last month of four new pumping stations in Russia. The upgrades to the Kazakh pumping stations at Atyrau and Tengiz would help CPC “significantly increase its transportation volumes,” CPC’s deputy general director for development, Bulat Zakirov, said after a ceremony on September 9 in the Kazakh city of Atyrau.
