Poland’s Lotos maximizes refinery runs

Warsaw—Poland’s second largest refiner Grupa Lotos said Tuesday that low crude oil prices and favorable oil product cracks prompted it to boost the utilization of its 10.5 million mt/ year refinery in Gdansk to 100% in the second quarter and maximize its refining margin. Higher gasoline prices in northwest European markets, supported by strong seasonal demand for gasoline in the US, drove its refining margin up by 63% year-on-year to $8.08/ barrel, Lotos said in a presentation of its second quarter financial results.
