Brazil approves 13th licensing round in October

Rio de Janeiro—Brazil’s National Energy Policy Council, or CNPE, has authorized the country’s National Petroleum Agency to hold the 13th round of exploration and production concessions on October 7-8, according to a notice published Tuesday in the Federal Register. The CNPE approved the sale of 266 blocks covering 125,046 square km (48,281 square miles) in 10 sedimentary basins, according to the notice. The ANP had submitted 269 blocks for the CNPE’s approval. In addition, the CNPE also authorized the ANP to include 11 inactive fields or marginal accumulations across six basins in the auction.
