The EU has extended economic sanctions against Crimea and Sevastopol for a further year over Russia’s continued “illegal” annexation of the former Ukrainian territories. Under the curbs, exports of goods and technologies to Crimean companies or for use in Crimea for exploration and production of oil, gas are banned until June 23, 2016. Technical assistance, brokering, construction or engineering services related to infrastructure in the energy sectors are also affected by the sanctions.
