New York—Delta Air Lines has modified its fuel hedging strategy on the uncertain outlook for crude prices, cutting back on the percentage of fuel needs hedged, the types of hedges it puts in place, and the duration of the hedges, a company executive said Thursday. Delta CFO Paul Jacobson, during the company’s investor day presentation, said the airline currently has 5% of its fuel needs hedged; between 90% to 100% of those hedges have a downside price of $40/b for ICE Brent.
